Commendations
It has been my pleasure working with Max Miller at ProActive Sports. Max has been an asset to our team, and I would recommend him to any future employer looking to hire a design professional.
I had the honor of overseeing Max’s work over the last year at our company. During this time Max has demonstrated strong skills in videography, video editing, graphic design, and social media management. Max takes on all video projects from start to finish including drafting, shooting, narrating, and editing.
One of Max’s greatest talents is his ability and desire to streamline processes. He strives to make every workflow as efficient as possible. I entrusted Max to train new hires how to complete production proofs and he constantly went above and beyond my expectations. Once, I asked Max to shadow a designer who was falling behind schedule as I knew he would be able to find new ways to speed up processes. Max taught this designer new keyboard shortcuts, custom actions, and scripts which led to a noticeable increase in productivity.
It has been a joy working with Max. I admire his can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills. Our company relies on Max for all our video needs and he is my go-to person when facing tight deadlines

"As Assistant Media Relations Director within the Portland State athletic department, I’ve worked with Max Miller over the past year in his capacity as Director of our online athletic broadcasts. Max came to us at a time when we really needed a reliable Director, and has excelled in that role for us since coming on board.
In his year with us, Max has shown himself to be dedicated to putting the best product out there, and goes above what I’ve asked of him in order to see that out. For our basketball broadcasts, for instance, Max would create graphics on his own time that I did not ask him to do, and they would inevitably benefit our broadcasts immeasurably.
As Director, Max also served in a supervisory role over the rest of our broadcast crew, and handled that role fairly yet firmly. Max was an effective communicator as our Director – redirecting people efficiently. Max also took direction well from me whenever there was something I needed to mention.
I’m confident Max would be a benefit to your organization.

"It’s my pleasure to recommend Max Miller for a position within your operation. If he is not an asset immediately, he’ll turn himself into one. In a matter of three years, while carrying on his primary responsibilities as an honor student, he made himself indispensable to the athletic department at Southern Oregon University.
When I became the sports information director at SOU in the fall of 2013, Max was the first person I hired as our broadcast director. With no previous experience in that department, I was lost: We had equipment I couldn’t identify and a brand new program through which we’d broadcast for the first time. I turned it all over to Max, whose technical knowledge probably didn’t outweigh mine by much at the time, and asked him to run with it – a risk my ineptitude and lack of options gave me little choice but to take. Before long, Max was enhancing our shows with graphics I hadn’t asked him to make; he roped in his buddies to operate cameras when we couldn’t come up with anyone else; he taught himself what a professional broadcast should like and researched how we could make upgrades with our (comically) limited budget; and he showed up, night after night, even before most of our full-time staff were in the building. The broadcasts became a revenue generator. After our football team brought us to a larger stage in the national playoffs, I was being congratulated by sports info directors on the other side of the country for one of the best broadcasts at our level. That was all Max.
It came as a relief last spring when Max told me he’d be sticking around to obtain a second degree, and now I’m just sorry he’s not pursuing a couple more. He loved being involved in athletics, and my only regret is that we couldn’t have plugged him into some other roles around the department. He’s a self- starter, easy to be around, and the pride he takes in his work – even if he’s never done such work before – is plainly evident. When Max is challenged, he approaches the task with enthusiasm and a sense of responsibility that’s beyond his age. I admire that and find no risk in recommending that someone take him on for the next step."
